No matter the record or how the season has gone to this point, both Kentucky and Louisville get up for the Governor's Cup.

This season, the Cardinals are one of the best teams in college football, as they were ranked #10 heading into this game.

The Cats didn't care about rankings or having to hit the road to play the Cardinals because they won the ball game 38-31.

What can we take away from the Cat's win over Louisville Cardinals?

Ray Davis was incredible

Ray Davis put this football team on his shoulders in the second half and ran away with this football game. Davis had 76 yards on the ground and 51 yards through the air for a total of 127 scrimmage yards. The transfer running back scored three second half touchdowns en route to a big Kentucky win over the Cat's biggest rival. He also got over 1,000 rushing yards in the ball game. Davis got to throw the L's down multiple times in this ball game, showing that even though he hasn't been in Lexington long, this rivalry means everything to him.

Barion Brown showed up

Barion Brown, like Davis, was a big part of the Cats keeping the Governor's Cup in Lexington. Brown had two catches for 48 yards, two rushes for 22 yards, and a huge kickoff return touchdown to give the Cats a spark. Brown also had the big catch to set up the final winning touchdown of the game from Davis. The Cats don't win this game without the electrifying speed of Brown.

The Cats didn't let rumors get to them

Over the last few days, and especially this morning rumors are spreading that the Texas A&M Aggies will target Mark Stoops to be their next head football coach. The players see this stuff on social media and could have let this affect their performance if they wanted to, but they didn't. The Cats wanted to beat Louisville, and they did it despite some rumors about their head coach floating around. The Cats put their heart and soul into this football game, and it paid off with a huge win that will keep the Governor's Cup in Lexington.
