Despite the distractions, the Coyotes have rallied together
? Perry Nelson-USA TODAY Sports

One of the biggest stories in hockey, arguably even bigger than the playoff race, is the ongoing situation with the Arizona Coyotes.

It has been reported that the players have been told the team will be relocated to Salt Lake City, and begin play as soon as next season. With a potential announcement coming this week, it takes away from the fact that the Coyotes still had a few more games to play.

The news of the team being moved rose to the surface last week, right as Arizona was going through western Canada. Yet, the players seemingly came together and played for one another. The ‘Yotes beat the Vancouver Canucks last Wednesday, before taking down the Edmonton Oilers on Friday, both victories coming in overtime. They had the Calgary Flames on the ropes on Sunday, but ultimately lost 6-5.

With the team having nothing to play for, it was a sight to see the Coyotes battle hard, amid everything going on off the ice.

On Monday’s edition of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Frank Seravalli and Tyler Yaremchuk discuss how the players are getting through this with some great play on the ice.

Tyler Yaremchuk: It’s kind of one last hurrah for this team, that’s what it feels like. I give full credit to the guys in that room … for kind of rallying together and playing as well as they did over this stretch of hockey. With all of the distractions around them, I don’t think anyone would’ve blamed them if they just kicked their feet up.

Frank Seravalli: Pretty impressive stuff. To me, I just love watching the young talent that continues to develop there. [Dylan] Guenther and [Logan] Cooley, they’ve got a pretty special group that’s all coming together. It’s going to take more time, and you’re going to need a lot more pieces, but I think they’re on the right track.
